Installation of the Cross Laminated Timber floor panels and Glue Laminated Timber beams and columns commenced back in July and the construction progressed seamlessly. As construction ramps up again post the COVID shutdown, the program will focus on completion of the façade and steelwork for the roof structure.

Project Manager Shane O’Connor says the timber construction has gone very well.

“A lot of planning went into the design and logistics a year ago with emphasis on making sure the shop drawings were accurate and provision for services were all in the right place. Another vital component of that planning was to ensure all the pieces arrived in the right order so there were no holdups. Now all that hard work a year ago has paid off with a very smooth delivery,” Shane said.

It’s the second predominantly timber building being delivered by BESIX Watpac this year with similar CLT and GLT manufactured timber products being used for the new Nioa Headquarters expansion project at Brisbane Airport.
