Formerly Lang Park, Suncorp Stadium is Queensland’s premier sports and outdoor concert venue with a rich history dating back to the mid-1800s. Our 25-year relationship started with a new western grandstand in 1994, followed by a full $280 million redevelopment in 2003 and subsequent refurbishments, upgrades, fit outs and most recently Super Screens installed in 2017. Heralded as the most intimate of large rugby stadiums in the country, Suncorp Stadium delivers an unrivalled fan experience with the sideline just 6 metres from the closest seating.

1993 – 1994 Lang Park Western Stand (Frank Burke Stand)
Engaged to deliver a new grandstand seven months before the scheduled State of Origin rugby league game, we implemented smart solutions to deliver a new grandstand on time. The multi-tier, 14,000-seat stand would increase capacity to 40,000 and bring the closest fans just seven metres from the field of play. We fast-tracked design documentation and procurement, and implemented a double-shift construction program. A composite steel and concrete structural frame was chosen for its installation speed and cost efficiency. The existing roof cantilevered 30 metres from the rear of the stand, with the truss supported at 15 metres by a mast and stay arrangement, which efficiently redistributed the roof loads into a concrete sway frame.
2001 – 2003 Redevelopment
One of the largest projects in Queensland at the time, the redevelopment was announced in 1999 and would transform the stadium into a world-class 52,500-seat venue. We refurbished and integrated the Western Stand seamlessly, having delivered the structure years earlier, and constructed a multi-sport arena capable of both oval- and rectangular-field sports within a non-negotiable 105-week construction program in time for the 2003 State of Origin series. Public transport was a key component of the new offering at Suncorp Stadium. With our delivery partners, we built new infrastructure to encourage maximum use of public transport on game days. This included a complete upgrade of the nearby train station, new walkways, 8.5-metre-wide pedestrian bridge, pedestrian plaza and 24 bus changeover stations.
2011 – 2012 Flood Refurbishment
The Brisbane Floods in 2011 significantly damaged the stadium including most game-day facilities. We helped to bring the stadium back to life through $16 million in repairs with key products and technologies incorporated during the project. This included elevating the main switchboard and fire panel system to above the flood level and installing flood resistant materials, such as block walls and elevated, re-locatable fixtures and fittings. We also introduced low-energy lighting, variable speed drives for air conditioning and ventilation systems and new lighting sensors and dimmers.
2015 – 2017 Western Stand Upgrades
The first major upgrade of the Level 5 corporate area since the Western Stand, we were engaged to deliver more capacity and revenue-earning options with better comfort for patrons. Stage 1 was completed in five months while the stadium remained operational. We delivered new corporate suites with removable walls for larger events, state-of-the-art AV, upgraded services, new amenities, upgraded function rooms, wider corridors, interactive signage and new wall of fame. Stage 2 was completed in four months and again during a live event calendar. We demolished, reconfigured and built new suites, lobby, function room, amenities and corridors.
2017 Workplace Refurbishment
Stadiums Queensland operates its head office from the Ground Floor and Mezzanine levels of the stadium. We refurbished and upgraded these areas to install new workstations, meeting rooms, kitchen, reception and amenities.
2017 Super Screens
We were chosen for a highlight project in 2017 – replacing the on-field screens with 167 square metre super screens at each end of the field. The high definition LED screens which were double the previous screen size, enabling more opportunities to interact with fans and ability to attract high quality sporting and entertainment events. We installed the screens around the active schedule of Super Rugby, soccer games and concerts, meeting all program, seating and safety requirements for each event.
