Praise and awards for a premier aquatic facility
Gold Coast Aquatic Centre Redevelopment
#Overview
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre was the first competition venue to be completed for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. We refurbished the existing eight-lane 50 metre pool, 25 metre pool and dive pool, as well as the installation of a new 10-lane 50 metre competition pool. Also featured in this development is a viewing terrace, permanent seating, bathrooms, meeting and admin facilities, a gymnasium and adjunct care facility. The facility can accommodate 9,000 temporary seats for swimming and 2,500 temporary seats for diving in event mode. BESIX Watpac worked closely with the City of Gold Coast Council and the Queensland Government to minimise disruption to local businesses, residents and major events during construction.
