#Delivery
Spanning more than 93,000m², this facility is set to become the largest multi-storey, temperature-controlled distribution centre in the Southern Hemisphere. The development features a Fresh Distribution Centre of over 31,000m², a Chilled Distribution Centre covering more than 24,000m², mezzanine amenities and lunchroom, ancillary buildings, office space, and a four-storey above-ground car park with 762 car spaces and heavy vehicle parking.
During the tender phase, our team identified more than 25 value-engineered items, resulting in significant savings for the client. Our meticulous value engineering approach included reviewing and proposing an alternate Green Star pathway to achieve the same outcome by targeting different points, consolidating services to maintain the same functionality, redesigning the car park and ramp structure to create efficiencies while retaining functionality, and redesigning structural steel to use asymmetric beams, resulting in a more efficient structure.
Our comprehensive and innovative approach ensures that the facility not only meets its goals but does so in a cost-effective and sustainable manner.
Once complete the facility will be partially powered by solar panels spanning 23,607m2.
Strong Local Outcomes
The project is expected to employ more than 4,000 people during construction and inject hundreds of millions into local businesses.
“Together with our build partners BESIX Watpac, we are developing important supply chain infrastructure, which will meet both the future growth and the expectations of our customers.” - Managing Director of Property at Woolworths Group, Ralph Kemmler.
