#Overview
A 38-storey mixed use high rise, York & George is named for the two streets in the heart of Sydney's CBD that it is situated between. A central focus for this project was to respect the location’s history with the site bound by two heritage-listed buildings: Carlton House and Spiden House. Two rail lines that were adjacent to the excavation area were also of historical relevance, and strict conditions were implemented to prevent damage to these tunnels. Our project team worked within these confines to deliver an iconic building that houses commercial and retail spaces on its lower levels and 199 residential units across the other 32 of its storeys, as well as shared recreational facilities for residents. BESIX Watpac also committed to restoring and extending the historic Spiden House and Carlton House buildings.
