8 Central Avenue is a showpiece structure in the Australian Technology Park complex, now home to Channel 7, NEP Studios and the NSW Government. The project involved construction of a 12-storey commercial office and studio precinct with approximately 40,000 square metres of commercial space. The development of four television studios and associated facilities was included in the program, along with 750 car spaces over two levels of parking. Our team met our client’s specific requirements including delivering the television studios to AS2107:2000 standards for acoustics. The building utilises sustainable measures, including the high-performance glazing and shading on the façade to reduce the reliance on air-conditioning and allowing for the use of recycled water for the flushing of toilets. Working in a live environment required BESIX Watpac to work closely with the client and stakeholders.
