Works Wrap Up Early on the Deep Maintenance and Modification Facility in South Australia
Works have wrapped up early on the Deep Maintenance and Modification Facility (DMMF) in South Australia – one of the nation’s most significant defence infrastructure projects that will enhance sovereign capability.

Completing major construction works on a defence project of this calibre ahead of schedule and to such a high standard reflects BESIX Watpac’s productivity‑led approach. Through early design engagement and the re‑engineering of key structural elements, our team was able to considerably reduce the project timeline. Further accelerating the program, our adoption of alternative methodologies and digital construction tools helped us maintain strong momentum from start to finish.
With more than 60 apprentices and work experience students engaged throughout the project, the DMMF has also delivered great social outcomes for the local community. This project exemplifies what can be achieved when industry and government work together with shared purpose and focus on excellence.
