The latest wins bring our August award tally to 11, reflecting the strength of our people, the quality of our project delivery and the collaborative approach that continues to set our teams apart across Australia.

National top honours for Kangaroo Point Bridge

A standout achievement of the evening was Tim Deere being named National Building Professional of the Year for his leadership on Kangaroo Point Bridge.

This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional planning, collaboration and innovations, including the use of digital construction methodologies, including digital construction methods required to deliver Brisbane’s tallest bridge — a city-shaping project that has already become a new landmark for the city.

BESIX Watpac also received the Infrastructure Award for Kangaroo Point Bridge, delivered for Brisbane City Council. As one of the world’s longest asymmetric cable-stayed pedestrian bridges, the project has strengthened connections between Kangaroo Point and the CBD, encouraging more sustainable travel and creating a lasting piece of public infrastructure for Brisbane.

The award acknowledges the collective effort behind the project to deliver a defining landmark for Brisbane.

Excellence in complex Defence delivery

BESIX Watpac was also recognised with the Commercial Construction over $60M Award for the Deep Maintenance and Modification Facility – led by Project Manager Angus Kay and delivered in partnership with Renewal SA.

Completed two months ahead of schedule, the facility demonstrates BESIX Watpac’s focus on driving productivity and delivering program certainty within a high-security Defence environment. The team successfully managed complex project interfaces while maintaining strict operational, safety and security requirements throughout delivery.

This award reflects our capability to deliver critical infrastructure in highly controlled environments, and the discipline, commitment and expertise of the people involved.

A shared achievement

From project leaders and site teams to our partners, consultants, subcontractors and all stakeholders, these achievements demonstrate what can be accomplished through collaboration, technical excellence and a shared commitment to delivering outstanding outcomes.

Congratulations to everyone involved in both projects. These awards are well-deserved recognition of your hard work, professionalism and contribution to Building the Best Together.
