Reaching New Heights on Project Flight
Another milestone has been reached on Project Flight with the installation of a 65‑metre tower crane to support construction on Adelaide Airport’s program to upgrade its terminals and key facilities.

The newly installed Hammerhead Tower Crane will play a crucial role in enabling concurrent construction across the project. Its extended reach allows our team to build the third level plant room at the same time as the new check-in hall. Without it, access would be blocked and our team would have to finish one before starting the other – extending the construction timeline.
Our project and in-house engineering teams ran detailed modelling to find the safest and most effective solution for the site’s challenges. The 65-metre-boom crane came out on top and will stay in place for around ten months.
Project Flight includes major upgrades and expansions to both the Northern and Southern Terminals, as well as the check-in hall. This is our sixth project with Adelaide Airport spanning a 15-year partnership and, once complete, the improvements will help the airport accommodate more travellers while delivering a smoother and more comfortable passenger experience.
