One NZ Stadium Nears Completion on Time and on Budget
Finishing touches are underway at One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha.

We’re proud to be delivering the stadium on schedule and on budget. Working hand-in-hand with Christchurch City Council, this is a great example of how major infrastructure projects in New Zealand can achieve delivery certainty.
The BESIX Watpac team is adding final touches across the venue, including the changing rooms, commercial kitchen, feature bars, function spaces, and corporate suites. These final works will bring the multi-use arena to life as preparations accelerate for its opening event from 24-26 April – the Super Rugby Super Round 2026.
Commenting on the project’s success, BESIX Watpac’s General Manager Queensland, Northern Territory and New Zealand, Wade Cummins said:
“BESIX Watpac’s long-standing record in stadia delivery has been central to achieving the project’s success. Renowned for never missing an opening, our team has applied its extensive experience to ensure One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha is no exception.”
The project has also created substantial economic and community benefits. To date, it has employed 3,716 workers and engaged 116 subcontractors. Importantly, 90% of the workforce has been local, with 77% of subcontracted businesses based across New Zealand. This strong local participation underscores our ongoing commitment to the region, fostering local partnerships, and contributing to long-term industry growth.
The BESIX Watpac team looks forward to celebrating the stadium’s opening with the community in April.
