New name for Te Kaha Multi-Use Arena
Te Kaha Multi-Use Arena will be known as One New Zealand Stadium.
Exciting news from Te Kaha, Canterbury’s Multi-Use Arena in New Zealand. The arena will be known as One New Zealand Stadium following the announcement of the naming rights sponsor as telecommunications company One New Zealand.
The project team continues to make excellent progress in the construction of the project for Christchurch City Council. Following is an update on current progress.
The radial trusses, a distinctive part of the arena’s design, are coming together quickly. With 20 of the 40 already installed along with six radial diaphragm modules, the structure is steadily taking shape.
To the stands, the Western Stand is nearing completion. The seating plats in the upper tier are finished, and the roof is ready for cladding. Construction of the Eastern Stand's seating plats is almost done, and work has begun on the North-West Stand.
The installation of steel modules will continue throughout the rest of 2024 and into next year.
Other activities include pre-assembly of the oculus truss in the Field of Play and installation is set to commence from August. Final building consent has also officially been issued and ground floor wall lining, ceilings and joinery are well advanced and floor finishes start soon.
The 30,000-seat, fully covered, state-of-the-art arena will host major sporting contests and international concerts once complete.
