Eastwood Private Hospital, one of South Australia’s latest health infrastructure developments aimed at addressing growing demand for medical services, has successfully reached practical completion – with BESIX Watpac proudly leading the delivery.

This milestone marks the final major stage in what has been a technically complex and highly coordinated build – delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with rigorous healthcare standards.

BESIX Watpac General Manager for South Australia and Victoria, Al Crosby said the project was delivered in strong collaboration with Barwon Investment Partners and Fortius Hospitals.

“Eastwood Private Hospital is a standout project that reflects the strength of collaboration between all parties – as well as the depth of engagement with our well-connected subcontractor networks, with 87% sourced locally, over 1,600 jobs supported, and 360,000 construction hours delivered,” Mr Crosby said.

“We’re also proud to support our local community by donating $5,000 to our neighbour throughout the construction phase - Cancer Council SA - through the BESIX Watpac Community Fund. This contribution helps advance their vital work across the region.”

Located on the fringe of Adelaide’s CBD, the hospital is set to raise the bar for private healthcare in the region.

Tom Patrick, Head of Healthcare Property at Barwon Investment Partners, said the completion of construction at the hospital marks a pivotal step in strengthening healthcare capacity for the region.

“We’re proud to see Eastwood Private Hospital move from vision to reality. It’s an important addition to Adelaide’s private healthcare network and a reflection of our long-term commitment to supporting high-quality, accessible medical services,” Mr Patrick said.

“This facility will help alleviate pressure on existing services by expanding access to surgical care, and its design support a modern, patient-centred model of care. Barwon is pleased to partner in a project that brings meaningful benefits to both clinicians and the community.”

Jonathan Edelstein, Chief Executive Officer of Fortius Hospitals, acknowledged the successful delivery and the strength of collaboration that brought the project to life.

“Eastwood Private Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. We’re extremely grateful to BESIX Watpac for delivering an outstanding building that supports the growing healthcare needs of our community in Adelaide,” Mr Edelstein said.

“This was a great opportunity to partner with a local builder, and the result is a high-quality hospital that meets every requirement for the latest healthcare.”

BESIX Watpac was responsible for the design and construction of the state-of-the-art facility, which includes a six-theatre perioperative floor, a 51-bed ward, medical imaging and pathology services.

The scope of works also included fit-out of ground and levels 3 and 4, which houses the perioperative floor and ward rooms, as well as all lobby and corridor areas. The carpark, associated plant, equipment, supports, courtyards and external landscaping were also delivered as part of the project.

Eastwood Private Hospital is now ready to begin serving the local community—representing a vital contribution to Adelaide’s healthcare landscape, and another proud achievement for BESIX Watpac.
