This NAIDOC Week, BESIX Watpac celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our reconciliation journey has been ongoing since the launch of our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2020. Since then, we have made significant progress, including meeting and exceeding key RAP targets, strengthening relationships with First Nations communities and increasing engagement with First Nations businesses across Australia.

These partnerships have played an important role in delivering successful projects while creating lasting social and economic benefits. They have also helped us learn, grow and better understand how we can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable future.

To mark the week, we invited several First Nations businesses we have partnered with to share their experiences, insights on NAIDOC Week, and reflections on working alongside BESIX Watpac.

We thank all our partners for sharing their stories and helping us celebrate the strength and success of First Nations businesses.

“Bridgeman is thankful for the opportunities BESIX Watpac has given us. Over the multiple projects we have worked together, our company has grown and become a better business because of it.”

Bridgeman - a partner on many of our projects

“NAIDOC Week is a time that fills me with real pride, pride in where I come from, pride in my culture, and pride in what we as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to build and achieve. As a Wiradjuri woman and business owner, it's a week that reminds me why representation matters. Every time I sign a contract or employ someone, I'm doing it as an Aboriginal woman and that means something. BESIX Watpac runs a professional and well-organised operation and the communication throughout the project has been straightforward and respectful.”

"Like many Indigenous businesses, we are a first-generation owned business and there has been so many mistakes, tears, achievements, learnings and laughter along the way. It has been so great and my favourite part is getting to meet so many wonderful people from organisation such as BESIX Watpac.”

"As a First Nations business owner, my journey has been shaped by a strong connection to community, culture, and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes in everything we do...Each project and partnership has helped strengthen our capability and visibility within the industry, and I’m proud of the role we play in contributing to reconciliation and long-term positive outcomes for future generations.”
