These eight additions to the trophy cabinet build on an exceptional year for BESIX Watpac. In 2026, the business has secured 16 awards, including 5 overall honours and one international award. Spanning Australia and New Zealand, these accolades recognise a diverse portfolio of projects and sectors, reflecting the strength of our delivery capability company-wide and continuing to build on our outstanding track record of world-class projects.

New Zealand Building Institute Aotearoa Building People Awards: More top honours for One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha

Project Director Brian Hayes received multiple national honours at the Building People Awards on behalf of the Te Kaha project team. Recognised for his exceptional leadership on one of New Zealand's most complex infrastructure projects, Brian was named winner of the Projects Over $100M category before receiving the Supreme Award, the program's highest distinction.

Upon accepting the award, Brian acknowledged the partnerships that made the project possible, reinforcing the collaborative ethos that defined the project and recognising the collective effort behind its success.

The recognition adds to a growing list of achievements since the project's completion, including a second Supreme Award for the project team.

Master Builders SA: Excellence in complex healthcare delivery

Eastwood Private Hospital took out Commercial Projects $50M - $100M. Delivered within a live healthcare environment, the project showcased exceptional planning, stakeholder collaboration and construction excellence while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations.

AIB SA/NT: celebrating professional excellence across multiple sectors 

The Australian Institute of Building’s Professional Excellence Awards recognise the people behind outstanding building and construction outcomes, celebrating leadership, innovation and the expertise required to bring projects to life. 

  • On behalf of the Deep Maintenance & Modification Facility project team, Project Manager, Angus Kay, received a Professional Excellence Award, winning the Commercial Construction over $60 million category. 
  • Angus and the DMMF team also claimed the prestigious SA-NT Building Professional of the Year award. The project will now progress to the National AIB Awards in Canberra later this year, alongside QLD’s Tim Deere and the Kangaroo Point Bridge team. 
  • Senior Site Manager, Rob Kamminga, was awarded a High Commendation in the Interior Construction category for the delivery of Adelaide Airport Passenger Screening and Baggage Handling Upgrades.

Master Builders Association FNQ: double recognition for JCU The Yeinie Building

The celebrations continued at the Master Builders Far North Queensland Housing & Construction Awards, where BESIX Watpac received major recognition for The Yeinie Building in Cairns delivered for James Cook University.

  • Winner: Education Facilities over $15 million category

These achievements continue to build on a strong track record of award-winning education projects across Queensland. In 2025, our JCU Engineering Innovation Precinct was named Project of the Year, while Brisbane Grammar School’s STEAM Building progressed to the National Master Builders Awards in 2024, where it won the National Education Facility Award.
