Heritage building restored as boutique hotel

Adelaide’s historic 14-storey Colonial Mutual Life building has been transformed into a 4.5-star hotel with 170 luxury suites, entertainment space and high-end retail. Internally, the refurbishment included the creation of an entry void connecting the basement, ground and first floors via a curved grand stairway. True to its era, the hotel features high level finishes reflecting the 1930's vintage including polished stone, blackened stainless steel and custom floor coverings. In addition to the redevelopment of the heritage building, the hotel also features a six-storey extension on its southern side called the ‘jewel box’, which has become a visual centrepiece for the hotel.
