Building comprehensive local care

The new Shellharbour Hospital marks a significant advancement in providing world-class healthcare to the Illawarra region, reducing the need for residents to travel for treatment. The new hospital will provide the local community with an expanded emergency department along with specialised elective surgery, rehabilitation and aged care, acute medical, and mental health services.

Featuring cutting-edge technologies and sustainable design principles, the new hospital will address the region’s growing healthcare needs while enhancing operational efficiency and delivering high-quality care. The project will also provide opportunities for local businesses to be involved where possible.

• Construction of a six-storey Acute Services Building, three-storey Ambulatory Care Building and two-storey Mental Health Building.
• Car park and improved public transport links.
• Approximately 800 construction jobs created, benefiting the local economy.
• Provision for a future rooftop helipad to enable rapid air transport for critically ill patients to receive timely and specialised care.
