World-class neuroscience research facility in Queensland

The Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) is one of the world’s leading neuroscience institutes, housing one of Brisbane’s largest teams of scientists dedicated to understanding the mechanisms regulating brain function. QBI houses 240 scientists and 60 support staff who have joined forces with the nearby bioscience and bioengineering facilities to form a precinct of over 1,000 specialists. A concrete structure with a Gross Floor Area of 13,765 square metres, the building includes laboratories, offices, lecture theatres and an auditorium over eight levels with a complex façade and coloured concrete finish. BESIX Watpac delivered the QBI in a manner that respected its neighbours and visually captured the facility's international standing.
