The two-level facility will include consulting and therapy rooms, interview spaces, and 40 bedrooms, along with courtyards and essential medical support areas. An under croft will house storage and secure access points, and the upper level is connected to the existing hospital by the link bridge.
The project is being executed in two phases: Phase 1 saw the delivery of prototype rooms, while Phase 2 involves the construction and commissioning of the facility. This unit will be the Gold Coast's first secure mental health facility, supporting recovery in a safe setting.
The Project team has worked collaboratively with the client and design team to implement Value Management (VM) items throughout the project. We aim to enhance efficiency and reduce project costs for the client by minimising unnecessary materials and optimising design features. This project underscores BESIX Watpac’s commitment to our clients through our technical expertise.
Workforce Apprenticeships
BESIX Watpac achieved a significant milestone during the construction of the project, employing over 100 apprentices, highlighting a commitment to a skilled construction workforce for the future.
