Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine Facility
#Overview
The Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine Facility (AITHM) is a world-class infectious diseases research hub that brings together the capacity and expertise of a number of smaller centres and key study areas. Its intention is to enhance North Queensland’s capability in public health, biomolecular, clinical, translational and health systems research. The five level, 4,260 square metre building houses laboratories, a biobank and office space for research programs specifically aimed at building important biosecurity capacity for northern Australia. It also includes the Translational Research Facility, which provides clinicians and researchers with the space to conduct clinical trials locally.
