The Australian Defence Industry Awards recognises excellence from defence professionals, organisations and businesses across the country and awards them a prestigious accolade for their achievements over the past year.

This year has been filled with turbulent events with constant obstacles and challenges to overcome in the wake of the pandemic and finding common ground in today’s post-pandemic environment. It’s the dedicated and assiduous individuals, organisations and businesses that triumphed through the difficult year that will be acknowledged at this year's awards ceremony.

The finalists, who were announced on Monday, 30 August, represent all individuals and groups across the defence industry over 33 different categories.

The number of nominations and submissions received this year just reinforces the importance of the awards for the Australian defence industry and we couldn't be happier that we can provide a platform for all of the remarkable individuals and businesses to be recognised across this outstanding industry.

“The awards have been backed by our principal partner KBR, platinum partners Lockheed Martin Australia and Aquaterro, gold partners Beca, BGIS and IDIC, dessert partners IDIC and JLB Yaran, and our supporting partners GJK Indeginous Solutions and PPA,” says Defence Connect Director William Magee.

“The sheer number of submissions, plus the ongoing and continued support of our of partners and judges, provides a great level of confidence for Australia’s defence industry and is representative of the depth of talent we have in our sector – I would like to thank all of those who nominated and each entrant for their submissions, and I wish everyone the best of luck on the night.”

BESIX Watpac CEO Jean-Pol Bouharmont, said it’s an honour for the company to be recognised as a finalist.

“As an engineering-led multidisciplinary contracting company, our vision is to build on our already significant project portfolio and become a Tier 1 Defence contractor, one recognised for our collaborative approach and our commitment to the upskilling of our subcontractors and suppliers to maximise the sovereign Australian supply chain,” Jean-Pol said.

The winners will be announced at a black-tie gala event hosted in Canberra on Tuesday, 7 December.
