#Overview
This eye-catching bridge, the third spanning the Maqta Channel, features architecture inspired by the rolling dunes of the desert. This 912-metre long structure connects the Island of Abu Dhabi with the mainland and incorporates an asymmetrical two-decked design created by the renowned architect Zaha Hadid. This was a massive project which required a seasoned construction firm to coordinate the activities of the 2,300-strong workforce, as well as the 22 cranes, 11 marine barges and various other pieces of equipment on-site. Approximately 1,600 cars traverse the bridge each hour, which has an engineered lifespan of 120 years and has been built to withstand high wind speeds, extreme temperatures and potential earthquakes.
