Enhancing Brisbane Airport for years to come

Unique process

The most recent project has involved a major overhaul of the southern retail tenancies and has been the most extensive works at the airport to date. An unconventional site and build, we demolished the base shells of the tenancies and entirely new shells constructed along with the delivery of new joinery and infrastructure. Our team demonstrated exception stakeholder engagement by individually working with the each of the 48 tenancies.

A notable element of this project was the demolition of the existing floor of the food court, to be replaced by a high-quality tiled finish. Before this could be accomplished, the floors needed to be corrected as there were inconsistent levels across the floor. A high-flow, lightweight grout was utilised to lift the floors with a view to creating a flat surface that could then be tiled. In what would typically have taken a month to complete using traditional methods with major impacts on airport operations, our advanced methodology enabled us to complete the pour in one night. We created a reticulation path through the building that was out of the way of public areas, and 25 concreters laid the floor topping in a single night.

Live environment expertise

Working in a highly sensitive environment, we maintained close communication with Brisbane Airport Corporation to ensure the terminal remained fully operational for the duration of works. We have expertly managed works in a variety of environments including landside, sterile and airside zones. Ensuring the greatest level of visual amenity was maintained throughout works, we erected large areas of covered scaffold that acted as edge protection as well as discretely concealing works.
