Golf day raises record $40,000 for West Moreton Health Foundation
A charity golf day supporting the West Moreton Health Foundation (WMHF) saw BESIX Watpac and its delivery partners from the Ipswich Hospital Expansion project raise an outstanding $40,000 – marking WMHF’s largest single fundraising event to date.

Scott Young, CEO of West Moreton Health Foundation said, “The event was a great success and we are incredibly grateful to BESIX Watpac and their delivery partners for this outstanding fundraising effort.
“This is the largest amount ever raised through an event for WMHF, and it will have a direct and lasting impact on the care we provide – it reflects the power of community partnerships in building healthier futures for the people of West Moreton.”
BESIX Watpac CEO Mark Baker took to the Brookwater Golf Course alongside Mr Young, the Ipswich Hospital Expansion project team, and more than 80 individuals representing almost 20 subcontractor teams working on the hospital upgrade, demonstrating both skill and spirit in support of the cause.
“It was a fantastic day to enjoy the outdoors, and at the same time, a privilege to support such a worthy cause,” said Mr Baker.
“Our commitment to the Ipswich region runs deep – including numerous projects on the hospital campus such as the Mental Health Unit that commenced in 2021, to the current Ipswich Hospital Expansion project. We’re proud to stand alongside our fantastic subcontractors and West Moreton Health Foundation and contribute to better outcomes for the community.”
Monies raised will be donated through the BESIX Watpac Community Fund and will directly support three vital health initiatives:
- An ultrasound machine for the Renal Clinic (valued at nearly $10,000), improving diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease.
- Specialised equipment to enhance patient outcomes in vascular care (valued at $20,000).
- The Glow Trial, a warming initiative for day surgery patients (valued at $15,000).
The successful event highlighted BESIX Watpac’s strong relationships with their subcontractor network and ongoing dedication to community partnerships and health infrastructure, reinforcing its role not just as a builder, but as a long-term regional partner.
