BESIX Watpac brings Victorian project partners together for an industry update
Sharing market insights, strengthening relationships and exploring what it takes to build high-performing teams with Joel Selwood.

BESIX Watpac recently hosted its Victorian Project Partner Event, welcoming subcontractors and suppliers for an afternoon of industry discussion, connection and collaboration.
The event provided an opportunity to bring together the people and businesses who play an important role in delivering BESIX Watpac projects across Victoria. With a strong pipeline of activity and a diverse range of opportunities ahead, the session was designed to keep partners informed, connected and engaged in what’s next for the business.
Guests heard from CEO Mark Baker and General Manager Vic & SA Al Crosby, who shared insights into BESIX Watpac’s national outlook, current project activity and opportunities across the Victorian market. The discussion also highlighted the importance of maintaining strong relationships across the supply chain as the business continues to deliver complex projects in a competitive construction environment.
The afternoon also featured a fireside chat with AFL star Joel Selwood, led by State Manager Greg Di Blasi. Drawing on his experience as one of the AFL’s most respected leaders, Joel generously shared his leadership insights, providing plenty of inspiration and practical takeaways. His reflections on joining the club as a young player, the commitment that kept him there, and the exit that surprised everyone after an electrifying final quarter were truly compelling. The session wrapped up with Joel - albeit reluctantly - sharing his tip for who'll take home the Premiership this year. Much to Mark's delight, it was the Brisbane Lions.
Beyond the formal presentations, the event was a valuable chance to reconnect with long-standing partners, build new relationships and recognise the contribution subcontractors and suppliers make to BESIX Watpac’s ongoing success in Victoria.
