Adelaide Airport Expansion on track for early delivery
The $200 million Adelaide Airport Terminal Expansion project is on target to finish up to three months early thanks to outstanding collaboration between BESIX Watpac and the client, Adelaide Airport Limited.

The BESIX Watpac team is currently working to deliver the Airport Terminal plaza and forecourt areas while also installing the baggage handling system. The installation of the International Arrivals baggage belt will be the last major deliverable of the contract which should see the project completed in November.
BESIX Watpac Manager South Australia, Al Crosby points to collaboration as being the key ingredient in executing the project ahead of schedule.
“Delivering a project of this scale in a live operating environment requires a very close and cooperative relationship with the client and Adelaide Airport have been brilliant to work with,” Al said.
“As a result, the efficiency of the program has been outstanding, and the quality of the finished product is exceptional.”
Adelaide Airport has also acknowledged the strength of the relationship in the project scorecard, saying, “BESIX Watpac, via their project staff and at head office level, have been very collegiate and worked to the principles of our alliance agreement.”
Overall, Adelaide Airport has awarded BESIX Watpac a score of 10 out of 10 on the project scorecard.

The relationship with Adelaide Airport commenced with the Landside Infrastructure project 11 years ago. The Terminal Expansion began through an Early Contractor Involvement phase and construction commenced in mid 2018. The expansion and refurbishment will increase the size of the terminal by over 80 per cent to support forecast passenger growth over the next 10 years.
